 In 1998 Jason Downey (19) from Ontario did the honours and cut the anniversary cake in celebration of the beginning of the 10th staging of the Tour du Canada. |
On July 1, 1998 twenty-four intrepid individuals gathered in Vancouver, British Columbia to start their 7,200 kilometre bicycle ride across Canada. Canadian participants hailed from British Columbia, Saskatchewan, Ontario,Quebec and Nova Scotia. As well, two riders from the U.S.A., one from Switzerland and one from Austria. The age range was 19 to 70. There were eleven female riders and thirteen male. |
