Cycle Canada's Cariboo Trail Bicycle Touring Route - Self-Guided
Cycle Canada's Cariboo Trail is a week-long cycling adventure that travels from Vancouver vicinity to Lillooet or Kamloops in British Columbia
The Cariboo Trail route travels through the Fraser River Canyon into B.C.'s Cariboo country. This is a challenging ride, as you pass through the Coast Mountains, following first the Fraser and then the Thompson River. You will travel from a lush coastal region to the arid interior of B.C. Along the way there are some long, steady climbs and exhilarating descents. The route is on paved roads.
This trip takes you through a broad variety of landscapes.
For those starting in Vancouver it's a big urban centre but you are soon away from the city and into delta lands along the banks of the Fraser River. Even when still relatively close to the city, there are stretches with few people.
Once into the Fraser Canyon, it can seem remote between villages. The vegetation changes from coastal rain forest to arid interior as you go through the canyon.
Then you're in cattle country, with big ranches, tumbleweed and, for a while, high pasture lands.
The scenery will change every day and each day's ride will be very different.
